Juggling Staff Size Guide: Choose the Ideal Staff
Choosing the right staff size is essential to maximize comfort and fluidity of movement during your performances. Here are a few tips to help you make the right choice based on your height, your style and your skill level.
About shoulder height: For a simple approach, a good reference point is to choose a staff that is roughly the height of your shoulders. This ensures good handling for most basic moves.
A few extra tips:
Depending on your juggling style:
Dynamic style and fast tricks (Spinning): If you like chaining fast tricks and tight rotations, a shorter staff (130 cm to 140 cm) is recommended. It is lighter and easier to handle, making fast, precise moves easier.
Flowing, aesthetic style (Contact Staff): If you prefer a slower, flowing juggling style with body movements, a longer staff (140 cm to 160 cm) offers better balance for wide spins and contact tricks.

Poi (Bolas)

Poi (Bolas) Size Guide:
Choosing the Ideal Length
The length of your poi (bolas) plays an important role in the fluidity of your movements, control and ease of performing tricks. Here are the main criteria to consider when choosing the size of your poi.
1. Based on your height:
Poi length is often proportional to the juggler's height. Here is a simple method to choose the right length for your build:
Classic method: Hold the poi handle in your hand and measure the length of the poi up to the inside of your arm, at armpit level.
Match your poi to your arms: A good reference point is to choose poi that are about the length of your arm. This lets you keep good control while making transitions between tricks easier.
Nunchaku
Nunchaku Chain Size Guide: Finding the Ideal Length
The length of the chain or rope connecting the two sticks of a nunchaku is essential for good handling, fluidity and control. Here are the main factors to consider when choosing the chain length of your nunchaku.
Traditionally, the length of the chain or rope depends mainly on the width of your hand. The most common way to choose the ideal size is to make sure the chain is slightly shorter than the width of your palm.
The chain length of a nunchaku directly affects its handling, speed and control. Here are the main differences between a 14 cm chain and a 21 cm chain:
Nunchaku with a 14 cm chain:
This model offers better control and greater precision of movement. The shorter distance between the two sticks allows fast, fluid combinations, ideal for close-combat techniques and dynamic tricks. It's perfect for those looking for responsiveness and efficiency in their combinations.
Nunchaku with a 21 cm chain:
With a longer chain, this nunchaku is ideal for artistic demonstrations and visual performances. The wider range of motion creates spectacular effects, especially during spins and aerial transitions. Although this length requires more skill, it brings unique fluidity and elegance, making every move more impressive to watch.
Which one to choose?
If you value speed and precision, go for a 14 cm chain.
If you're after visual impact and artistic flow, the 21 cm chain is ideal.
Standard chain length:
10 to 15 cm is the recommended standard length for most nunchaku. It gives good handling while allowing some flexibility of movement.
Palm test:
When you hold a nunchaku by one of the sticks, the chain or rope should be just long enough for the other stick to lightly touch your palm when you hold it firmly. It's a simple way to check whether the length suits your needs.
